Another reason for implant exchange is rupture. Of note, it is recommended that all implants should be exchanged roughly every 10-15 years.

Before your breast implant exchange:

During your consultation, Dr. Yalif will examine you and discuss your surgical options with you; which are based on your prior surgery, current implant issues, and anticipated post surgical appearance. He will discuss the different incisions, the size and type implants available, and the pros and cons to each choice. With your input a surgical plan will be formulated that is unique to your individual circumstances.

Breast implant exchange surgery:

Breast Implant exchange surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The surgery typically takes a couple of hours and patients are sent home the same day. Drains are usually not necessary.

Breast implant exchange recovery:

Post surgical discomfort is managed with oral pain medication and close follow up will be performed by Dr. Yalif. No sutures have to be removed since the sutures typically will be absorbable.

Patients typically return to work a week after their operation and aerobic exercise can be restarted one month after surgery.
