Breast ptosis or sagging breasts describes breasts that have assumed a lower position on your chest, and may be deflated or sagging. This can be due to a combination of factors. Whether its pregnancy or changes in body weight, your breast skin and supporting ligaments have stretched and will not assume their former, more youthful position. Surgical correction of this problem is called a mastopexy or breast lift. In this surgery extra skin is removed, the underlying breast tissue is molded and contoured, and the breasts are repositioned to a more youthful position on the chest wall. Often times this is combined with a breast augmentation to restore some of the  volume that has been lost from the breasts.

Before your Mastopexy/breast lift surgery:

During your consultation, Dr. Yalif, an Atlanta  Breast Lift Surgeon will examine you and discuss your surgical options. He will discuss the different incisions, type of lift that best suits you, and the pros and cons to each choice and whether or not you may benefit from the addition of an implant. With your input a surgical plan will be formulated that is unique to your individual circumstances.

Breast lift surgery/Mastopexy:

Breast Lift/Mastopexy surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The surgery typical takes a few hours and patients are sent home the same day. Drains are usually not necessary.

Breast Lift/Mastopexy recovery:

Post breast lift discomfort is managed with oral pain medication and close follow up will be performed by Dr. Yalif. No sutures have to be removed since the sutures typically will be absorbable.

Patients typically return to work 1 week after their operation and aerobic exercise can be restarted one month after surgery.

Your new breasts will achieve their final shape/ position a few months after your surgery. For more information about our Atlanta Breast Lift please schedule your consultation by calling 404-822-4402 or email us any questions by clicking here.
