Every nose is different and so is every patient, which means that Rhinoplasty, or Nose Surgery, must be tailored to the needs of each individual. Triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Asaf Yalif understands this concept and works closely with every Rhinoplasty patient he sees in Alpharetta or Atlanta, GA, to provide the best, most natural-looking results possible.
Rhinoplasty, also referred to as a “Nose Job”, is one of the most common plastic surgeries in the Atlanta area because it can dramatically enhance a person’s appearance. Women and men choose Rhinoplasty for several reasons, including improving a crooked nose, removing a hump or bump, reducing nasal width, narrowing the nasal tip and/or adjusting its projection, and altering the size of the nostrils.
Elevate Your Profile
Rhinoplasty is among the most popular plastic surgery procedures performed in the U.S. The patients considering Rhinoplasty at Y Plastic Surgery include individuals with a range of concerns about the size or shape of their noses. The best candidates for Rhinoplasty:
Younger persons thinking about getting Rhinoplasty ask if they have to be a certain age to undergo the procedure. A patient’s nose should be fully developed and that usually happens by age 16 for girls and at 17 or 18 for males.
About The Procedure
As an outpatient procedure in Atlanta Rhinoplasty is performed while a patient is under general anesthesia at an accredited facility. Depending on the technique used and the patient’s needs, surgery can last 2 to 4 hours. There are 2 types of nose surgery procedures: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty.
Open rhinoplasty, or external rhinoplasty, involves the plastic surgeon making a small incision on the underside of the nose between the nostrils to offer better access to the lower and middle parts of the nose. The surgeon can then manipulate tissue, skin, and bone as needed. The placement of the incisions allows for minimal scarring. Open Rhinoplasty is used for more complex nose surgeries.
With closed rhinoplasty, or endonasal rhinoplasty, incisions are made inside of the nostrils. This Rhinoplasty technique is common for less complex surgeries, such as when the nose already has a good shape and isn’t considered too wide or too long. Due to the placement of the incisions, there is no visible scarring.
After completing Rhinoplasty Atlanta plastic surgeon, Dr. Yalif, stabilizes the patient’s nose with splints made of a soft material. He removes the splints at a follow-up appointment scheduled for the day after the surgery, when he also places external dressings on the nose that remain for another 2 days.
Even though most patients experience some discomfort during the initial recovery period, many are surprised by the low level of pain. Dr. Yalif does not routinely use nasal packing for rhinoplasty patients.
It’s important to avoid bleeding during the initial 48 hours after Rhinoplasty, so patients shouldn’t blow their noses, bend over, or lift anything heavy enough that would cause them to strain. Keep the head elevated and don’t take medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin). Plan on taking a week off from work or school.
Bruising and swelling are common, but typically subside after a couple of weeks. Residual swelling can last several months to a year, which is why the final results of the surgery will emerge gradually. The nose repositions and evolves during the first 9 months to a year, after which you’ll see the final outcome of a beautifully shaped, positioned, and proportionate nose.

Whether it is a facelift or a tummy tuck, we will want to maximize our results. Dr. Yalif knows that the best way to help your body through the surgery journey is with adjunctive skincare regimens. These recommendations will help maintain your results longer, refine scars, and achieve your desired aesthetic!
For face procedures, we recommend a pre-op retinoid, usually from the Environ line. Their multi-level retinoid system allows the escalation of the retinoid’s effect, usually without all the drying and itchiness usually associated with these types of products. Post-operatively, we recommend a combination of therapies aimed at keeping your skin youthful while allowing your incisions to fully heal with excellent support, essentially maintaining your results and improving the quality of your skin over time. These include Environ’s Skin Essentia line for both cleansing and moisturizing, followed by the Vita-peptide C-quence serum 2 – containing vitamins A, C, and E, along with hydrating and toning elements for your skin. We add the super moisturizer at night and the ISDIN SPF during the day to complete the recovery of your skin and enhance your results for years.
If you’ve had an eye procedure or just want a good recommendation for an eye cream, Dr. Y recommends the Environ Vita-peptide gel. It will help with puffiness, fine lines, crow’s feet, and more. Essentially it is an excellent product on its own and will augment any result you get if Dr. Y is doing a periorbital procedure too.
And don’t think we neglect your body! In addition to the recommendations above, we highly recommend The Derma-Lac lotion postoperatively to help exfoliate your skin and soften smooth and moisturize the treated areas to improve overall skin health. We also will add vitamin A, C, and E body oil to help the appearance of stretch marks, scarring, pigmentation, and dry skin. Our experts are happy to answer questions and make additional recommendations based on your particular needs.
At Y Plastic Surgery, the cost of Rhinoplasty ranges at about $11,000. This includes surgical and anesthesia fees. The exact cost of your procedure will be discussed as a part of the consultation process.
