Atlanta Breast Lift
Women concerned about sagging breasts can benefit from breast lift surgery (mastopexy) at our Alpharetta, Roswell, and Woodstock, GA, locations. Triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Asaf Yalif elevates the breasts and creates a more youthful, aesthetically pleasing contour with this procedure.
Ideal Atlanta Breast Lift Candidates
During the initial consultation and after a thorough exam, we will help determine if a breast lift is the right surgery for you. Ideal candidates for this procedure have:
- Realistic ideas about what breast lift surgery can accomplish
- Breasts that have lost their shape
- Breasts that hang, are stretched out or are asymmetrical
- Nipples that point downward or rest underneath the breasts
- Experienced a loss of skin elasticity related to weight loss, pregnancy, or aging
Many of Dr. Yalif’s breast lift patients also want to restore lost volume after pregnancy or other weight loss and combine the procedure with breast augmentation. A breast lift alone is ideal for women who don’t want to increase the size, but want to restore a youthful shape and position to their breasts.
Understanding Your Procedure
Dr. Yalif performs breast lift surgery using general anesthesia. It’s considered an out-patient surgery, which means you’ll return home the same day as your surgery. You and Dr. Yalif discuss a number of issues at your consultation, including where he’ll make the incisions. This choice is based on the degree of breast sagging. Dr. Yalif offers 3 commonly used incision locations for breast lift patients:
- Incision made along each areola (donut breast lift)
- Incision made along each areola, plus a vertical incision down to the crease under the breasts (lollipop or vertical breast lift)
- Incision made along each areola, plus a vertical incision down to the crease under the breast, and another horizontal line following the direction of the breast fold (anchor breast lift)
Few breast lift patients can benefit from a periareolar incision, which is used only for very minor sagging. The other 2 incision patterns are much more common. Dr. Yalif uses his experience and technical experience to minimize the appearance of scars and provides information about the best way to care for your incisions for fast and healthy healing.

Combining Procedures
It’s fairly common to combine a breast lift with one or more surgical procedures. Breast augmentation combined with a breast lift is extremely common, and Mommy Makeoverprocedures combine cosmetic breast surgery with body contouring procedures such as a tummy tuckand liposuction. All of these options can be discussed during the initial complimentary consultation with Dr. Yalif. Many women who have had this surgery report high levels of satisfaction and improved self-esteem.
Recovery & Results
With breast lift surgery, you’ll see immediate results in the changes to the shape and position of your breasts and nipples. The results improve as the swelling from surgery subsides. Recovery varies, especially if you combine a breast lift with another procedure, such as a breast augmentation, breast reduction, or tummy tuck. Nevertheless, we recommend patients perform some light activities, such as slowly moving around the room, within the first 48 hours of the surgery. Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity involving the chest. Patients can restart their normal activities within 2 to 3 weeks, but strenuous exercise should not be attempted for 6 to 8 weeks.
There is a myth that women who have breast lift surgery never have to wear a bra again. This is not true, as you will want to wear a bra to support the breasts and keep them perky. It is also important to realize that the breast skin will continue to age regardless of surgical intervention. For best long-term results, proper garments should be worn to maintain the breast position.
