Male Implants

Despite long hours of strength training at the gym and eating a healthy diet full of protein, some men are unable to develop their muscles to a desirable size. Implant procedures at Y Plastic, Reconstructive, and Hand Surgery for men can include calf augmentation, and pectoral augmentation. Our triple board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Asaf Yalif, can use male implants to correct body asymmetry, such as calves that are different sizes from a birth defect or a medical condition like polio.

Implants can also be used for the face. For instance, many men also find chin augmentation to be helpful in creating a stronger, more masculine jawline. Male implant surgeries use silicone implants that are shaped based on the patient’s body and goals to look natural while adding muscle mass and definition. Dr. Yalif can discuss all of the options for male implant surgeries at his office in Woodstock or Roswell, GA during a private consultation.

Ideal Candidates

The best candidates for male augmentation surgery:

  • Have tried diet and exercise
  • Want to enhance or define their muscles
  • Want to fix a physical defect or body asymmetry
  • Have overall good health
  • Have realistic expectations

What to Expect

Patients may have one augmentation surgery or a combination, depending on their specific needs and goals. Most implant surgeries are done with the patient under local or general anesthesia as an outpatient surgery, but some patients may need to spend the night for observation.

Calf Implants:

An incision is made in the back of the knee and then the implant is placed in a pocket either below the fascia or within the calf muscle.

Pectoral Implants:

An incision is made in the armpit and the implant is placed under the pectoral muscles and above the ribs.

Chin Implants:

An incision is made under the chin or inside the lip, then a pocket is created in the facial tissue where the implant will be placed.

Anticipated Results

The recovery period after implant surgery will vary depending on the location of the implant, but the surgeon will go over aftercare instructions, including medications, compression garments, and activity restrictions. Final results will be visible 1 – 3 months after the surgery when the swelling subsides and the implants settle into their final position. Implants can be long lasting, but patients should follow the surgeon’s care instructions and have their implants checked regularly for infections or leaks.
