You’ll Lobe These Results!
Adults and children over five have access to otoplasty or ear surgery. Otoplasty, whether for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes, is a surgical procedure that can alter the size and form of the ears and their position.
However, surgical procedures on the ears do not improve hearing. Enhancing the visual appeal of ears is the primary goal. Dr. Asaf Yalif of Y Plastic Surgery in Atlanta is a triple-board-certified plastic surgeon who focuses on work on the face and neck. Set an appointment to talk to Dr. Yalif and find out if Otoplasty is the correct choice.
Transform Your Ears Today
Ear surgery, also called Otoplasty or ear pinning, can address a number of ear issues, such as ears that stick out too much, are misaligned, or are misshapen. At Y Plastic Surgery, prominent ears that are too large and disproportionate for the face can be successfully reshaped and repaired. With Otoplasty Atlanta plastic surgeon, Dr. Asaf Yalif, can not only improve the ears’ cosmetic appearance but also alleviate feelings of anxiety, restore confidence, and improve self-image for adults and children as young as five or six.
Anxiety about your ears as an adult or harassment and bullying at school by classmates as a child can have profound negative effects on self-esteem and self-image. However, in our office in Atlanta Otoplasty patients have experienced improved appearance and confidence. To learn more about reshaping your own or your child’s ears, give us a call today at (404) 822-4402 to schedule a free consultation at one of our offices, all of which are conveniently located in the greater Atlanta area.
Advanced Atlanta Otoplasty
Otoplasty is performed to lessen the prominence of the ears. However, some people get ear surgery to alter the appearance of their earlobes, achieve better symmetry, repair damage after an injury, or fix a birth defect.

During Otoplasty, the patient will be under either general anesthesia or a lighter sedation known as “twilight” anesthesia, and an incision will be made in the folds of the ear.
Dr. Yalif will be able to manipulate the cartilage and skin, reshaping the ear. For overly large ears, the extraneous cartilage and skin can be removed. If the ears are misaligned, he will stitch the ears evenly and in the most appropriate position. After surgery, the incisions will be sutured closed. Since the incisions are made in the natural creases of the ear, there will be no visible scarring. The surgery typically takes around two hours to complete.
Whether it is a facelift or a tummy tuck, we will want to maximize our results. Dr. Yalif knows that the best way to help your body through the surgery journey is with adjunctive skincare regimens. These recommendations will help maintain your results longer, refine scars, and achieve your desired aesthetic!
For face procedures, we recommend a pre-op retinoid, usually from the Environ line. Their multi-level retinoid system allows the escalation of the retinoid’s effect, usually without all the drying and itchiness usually associated with these types of products. Post-operatively, we recommend a combination of therapies aimed at keeping your skin youthful while allowing your incisions to fully heal with excellent support, essentially maintaining your results and improving the quality of your skin over time. These include Environ’s Skin Essentia line for both cleansing and moisturizing, followed by the Vita-peptide C-quence serum 2 – containing vitamins A, C, and E, along with hydrating and toning elements for your skin. We add the super moisturizer at night and the ISDIN SPF during the day to complete the recovery of your skin and enhance your results for years.
If you’ve had an eye procedure or just want a good recommendation for an eye cream, Dr. Y recommends the Environ Vita-peptide gel. It will help with puffiness, fine lines, crow’s feet, and more. Essentially it is an excellent product on its own and will augment any result you get if Dr. Y is doing a periorbital procedure too.
And don’t think we neglect your body! In addition to the recommendations above, we highly recommend The Derma-Lac lotion postoperatively to help exfoliate your skin and soften smooth and moisturize the treated areas to improve overall skin health. We also will add vitamin A, C, and E body oil to help the appearance of stretch marks, scarring, pigmentation, and dry skin. Our experts are happy to answer questions and make additional recommendations based on your particular needs.
Following ear surgery, the ears will be dressed to provide protection. The dressing will remain in place for about a week. There’s little pain or discomfort associated with Otoplasty, but patients can expect some tenderness and swelling. It’s crucial that pediatric patients not touch or bother their ears while they are healing. You'll have to keep the bandages on for a whole week. The swelling after Otoplasty should go down within a week or two, and the final outcome should become apparent shortly after that. Although full recovery may take up to three months, most patients experience marked improvement within the first six weeks.
Results are long-term and will provide years of positive benefits for patients.
Dizziness, facial paralysis, hearing loss, or ringing in the ears are rare but possible complications of ear surgery.
The cost of Otoplasty is generally around $7,000. Dr. Yalif will evaluate your ears and discuss your surgical options during your consultation. Each patient receives a unique treatment plan, and he will go through your surgical cost at the consultation.
It is best to contact your insurance company to learn about your coverage options. Cosmetic ear surgery is typically not covered by health insurance. However, Y Plastic Surgery may provide payment plans and financing options.
