Dare to Bare Your Arms
Age, genetics, and sudden weight changes (especially after weight loss surgery) can all cause sagging arm skin, which can't be tightened by exercise or diet alone.
During an upper arm lift, also called a Brachioplasty, fat and loose skin under the arms can be taken off. With Brachioplasty Atlanta patients can get rid of bat wings or extra skin that hangs from your arms. With an arm lift from the well-known Y Plastic Surgery, you can show off your arms again. Stop feeling bad about your arms. Book a consultation today to find out if an arm lift is right for you.
Get Tighter Arms Today
Arm lift surgery or Brachioplasty is the most effective and long-lasting way to get rid of extra skin and change the shape of the arms. It is usually done as an outpatient treatment. It can be done in conjunction with other procedures like liposuction to get rid of extra fat and give the arms and other areas a more toned, sculpted look. It can also be done as part of a bigger body lift, like with a tummy tuck, thigh lift, or breast lift, or as part of a Mommy Makeover for people who have lost a lot of weight.
Brachioplasty is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments following a significant weight loss journey for both men and women. For all of your hard work, you deserve upper body definition. Achieve slender, leaner arms that you can be proud to show off in sleeveless shirts or summertime attire. Call (404) 822-4402 to schedule an arm lift consultation at one of our convenient metro Atlanta offices in Alpharetta, or contact us online.
Often caused by weight loss and/or aging, unwanted skin and fat hanging from the upper arm can be surgically fixed with arm lift surgery or Brachioplasty. Our triple board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Asaf Yalif, uses cosmetic skin tightening and liposuction techniques to eliminate the excess skin and fat deposits on the upper arm, often referred to as “bat wings” or flabby triceps.
While weight loss can cause sagging skin to appear on the arms, some of the loose skin can also be caused by genetics. This makes it very difficult to tone the upper arm to an individual’s desired shape or appearance. When diet and exercise fail to tone the upper arm, a trusted plastic surgeon can create outstanding results. Ideal candidates for a Brachioplasty exhibit:
At Y Plastic Surgery, we can help remove this excess skin and tighten the underside of the arm when diet and exercise fail to produce the desired results.

After being put under general anesthesia, the incision for Brachioplasty is made from the elbow to the upper arm. Loose skin will be trimmed away, and the underlying tissue will be pulled tight. This surgery takes about two hours, and there is no need for an overnight stay unless the surgery is paired with other procedures. Be prepared for swelling and bruising. To promote healthy healing and blood circulation, the arms should be kept elevated. Patients can usually return to normal activities in about three to four weeks.
Whether it is a facelift or a tummy tuck, we will want to maximize our results. Dr. Yalif knows that the best way to help your body through the surgery journey is with adjunctive skincare regimens. These recommendations will help maintain your results longer, refine scars, and achieve your desired aesthetic!
For face procedures, we recommend a pre-op retinoid, usually from the Environ line. Their multi-level retinoid system allows the escalation of the retinoid’s effect, usually without all the drying and itchiness usually associated with these types of products. Post-operatively, we recommend a combination of therapies aimed at keeping your skin youthful while allowing your incisions to fully heal with excellent support, essentially maintaining your results and improving the quality of your skin over time. These include Environ’s Skin Essentia line for both cleansing and moisturizing, followed by the Vita-peptide C-quence serum 2 – containing vitamins A, C, and E, along with hydrating and toning elements for your skin. We add the super moisturizer at night and the ISDIN SPF during the day to complete the recovery of your skin and enhance your results for years.
If you’ve had an eye procedure or just want a good recommendation for an eye cream, Dr. Y recommends the Environ Vita-peptide gel. It will help with puffiness, fine lines, crow’s feet, and more. Essentially it is an excellent product on its own and will augment any result you get if Dr. Y is doing a periorbital procedure too.
And don’t think we neglect your body! In addition to the recommendations above, we highly recommend The Derma-Lac lotion postoperatively to help exfoliate your skin and soften smooth and moisturize the treated areas to improve overall skin health. We also will add vitamin A, C, and E body oil to help the appearance of stretch marks, scarring, pigmentation, and dry skin. Our experts are happy to answer questions and make additional recommendations based on your particular needs.
For best results, an arm lift may require liposuction of the fat deposits within the upper arm to make the final result slim and trim. During your consultation for Brachioplasty Atlanta plastic surgeon, Dr. Yalif, will discuss the best course of action given your skin health and condition. Keep in mind that some of the stretch marks will also be taken with the skin. If weight is regained, however, it could damage the treated area.
A Brachioplasty gives patients the opportunity to have more defined arms for years to come. The results of the surgery will be immediately apparent and will take full effect once the swelling has completely subsided in the two to three months following the procedure.
You may have some pain and discomfort after surgery, and you may also have swelling and bruises. In seven to ten days, these symptoms should go away. However, you can manage any discomfort with over-the-counter medication.
Even though complications are rare, they can include bleeding, infection, persistent swelling, a change in sensation, scarring, and an uneven shape. You may be less likely to have problems if you follow pre- and post-surgical instructions carefully.
The cost of a Brachioplasty can vary depending on the details of your procedure. The general cost will be around $12,000, which includes surgical and anesthesia fees as well as follow-up appointments. At your initial consultation, you will have the opportunity to learn about the methods that will help you meet your goals for treatment and the associated costs.
