Your Abdomen
People throughout the metro Atlanta area come to Dr. Asaf Yalif for Tummy Tuck at his offices in Atlanta and Alpharetta GA, when they are frustrated by excess skin and stretch marks that are left after pregnancy or other significant weight loss. Loose skin and separated abdominal muscles are parts of the body that cannot be restored by diet and exercise. A tummy Tuck, also called Abdominoplasty, creates a flatter abdomen and reduces the appearance of stretch marks by removing the loose skin and tightening the abdominal muscles.
A Tummy Tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a body contouring procedure that removes excess abdominal skin and fat while tightening the underlying muscles to create a flatter, firmer midsection. Often chosen by people after pregnancy, weight loss, or aging, a tummy tuck addresses concerns that can’t be improved through diet and exercise alone, such as stretched skin, separated muscles, or stubborn bulges. At Y Plastic Surgery, Dr. Yalif customizes each tummy tuck to the patient’s unique anatomy and goals, delivering natural-looking, confidence-boosting results.

The starting cost of a Tummy Tuck in Atlanta performed by Dr. Yalif is $11,750. That includes the surgical and anesthesia fees. Tummy Tuck variations are priced slightly differently, based on the extent of the specific procedure. An extended Tummy Tuck starts at $13,500 and the cost of a mini Tummy Tuck starts at $7,000. At our practice in Atlanta tummy tuck procedures are tailored to each patient’s unique needs for both cosmetic and functional improvement. Many patients find that they not only look better, but feel stronger and more at ease in their bodies after surgery.
Key tummy tuck benefits include:
Both a tummy tuck and mini tummy tuck can dramatically improve the appearance of the midsection, but they’re used for different kinds of concerns. They share the goal of creating a firmer, more sculpted abdomen, but the techniques, extent of correction, and recovery process differ.
A full tummy tuck addresses the entire abdominal area, from just above the pubic bone to above the belly button. It includes removal of excess skin and fat, tightening of the abdominal wall muscles, and repositioning of the belly button for a natural look. It’s best suited for patients who have experienced pregnancy or significant weight fluctuations that left behind loose skin and stretched muscles.
A mini tummy tuck focuses only on the lower abdomen, below the belly button. Dr. Yalif often refers to it as a “skin only” tummy tuck because it typically doesn’t involve muscle repair or belly button repositioning. It’s ideal for patients whose concerns are limited to mild skin laxity or a small pouch in the lower belly. Recovery tends to be shorter, and the scar is slightly smaller.
Dr. Yalif will walk you through both options during your consultation and recommend the one that aligns with your body and your goals.
Ideal Candidates
Both men and women can benefit from Tummy Tuck surgery. People who lose a large amount of weight, either through surgery or lifestyle changes, often consider body contouring surgery such as Abdominoplasty. When it comes to tummy tuck Atlanta patients commonly include women who have had children.
Whatever the reason, Tummy Tuck candidates have one or more of these concerns:
Anyone considering elective plastic surgery should be in good overall health and a non-smoker. Smokers encounter an increased risk of complications. Even though the best candidates are near their ideal weight, patients who are overweight may still be good Tummy Tuck candidates. During consultations, Dr. Yalif discusses the pros and cons of undergoing body contouring surgery for patients’ specific situations.
Start With a Conversation
Your consultation is where your surgical plan begins to take shape. Dr. Yalif will spend time with you, listening, examining, and answering your questions without rushing. He’ll assess whether a full or mini tummy tuck (or a different approach) fits your goals and explain what’s involved in plain language.
We don’t just hand you a packet and wish you luck. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s next, from pre-op prep to recovery. We’ll help you arrange lab work if needed, offer tips for setting up your recovery space, and make sure everything is in place so you feel calm and confident heading into surgery.
Tailored Surgical Excellence
At Y Plastic Surgery, every tummy tuck begins with a thoughtful, in-depth consultation. Dr. Yalif takes the time to understand your lifestyle, goals, and medical history, then designs a personalized surgical plan that aligns with your unique needs. You’ll receive clear pre-operative instructions, and our team is available every step of the way to answer questions and help you feel fully prepared.
On the day of surgery, Dr. Yalif makes a horizontal incision just above the pubic area. Through this access point, he removes excess skin and fat, often incorporating liposuction to refine the waistline and flanks. For many patients, especially women post-pregnancy, the procedure includes repairing and tightening abdominal muscles that have separated, restoring a firmer, more functional core. Dr. Yalif then repositions the belly button to match your new contours, ensuring a natural and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Surgical drains are typically placed to help reduce fluid buildup and support smooth healing. Most procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, and patients return home the same day with detailed aftercare instructions. In some cases, where only minor correction is needed, Dr. Yalif may recommend a mini tummy tuck instead, which is limited to the lower abdomen and does not involve muscle repair.

Pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding often result in significant physical changes to a woman’s body that can be corrected only through surgery. A Tummy Tuck is commonly included as part of a suite of procedures called a Mommy Makeover. Cosmetic breast surgery, including a breast lift with or without implants, can be performed during the same operation. Other areas of concern, including vaginal tightening, can be performed, as well.
Whether it is a facelift or a tummy tuck, we will want to maximize our results. Dr. Yalif knows that the best way to help your body through the surgery journey is with adjunctive skincare regimens. These recommendations will help maintain your results longer, refine scars, and achieve your desired aesthetic!
For face procedures, we recommend a pre-op retinoid, usually from the Hydrinity line. Their multi-level retinoid system allows the escalation of the retinoid’s effect, usually without all the drying and itchiness usually associated with these types of products. Post-operatively, we recommend a combination of therapies aimed at keeping your skin youthful while allowing your incisions to fully heal with excellent support, essentially maintaining your results and improving the quality of your skin over time. These include Hydrinity’s Skin Essentia line for both cleansing and moisturizing, followed by the Vita-peptide C-quence serum 2 – containing vitamins A, C, and E, along with hydrating and toning elements for your skin. We add the super moisturizer at night and the ISDIN SPF during the day to complete the recovery of your skin and enhance your results for years.
If you’ve had an eye procedure or just want a good recommendation for an eye cream, Dr. Y recommends the Hydrinity Vita-peptide gel. It will help with puffiness, fine lines, crow’s feet, and more. Essentially it is an excellent product on its own and will augment any result you get if Dr. Y is doing a periorbital procedure too.
And don’t think we neglect your body! In addition to the recommendations above, we highly recommend The Derma-Lac lotion postoperatively to help exfoliate your skin and soften smooth and moisturize the treated areas to improve overall skin health. We also will add vitamin A, C, and E body oil to help the appearance of stretch marks, scarring, pigmentation, and dry skin. Our experts are happy to answer questions and make additional recommendations based on your particular needs.

Recovery Guidelines
Patients heal at their own, unique pace, but there are some general guidelines to keep in mind that can help you plan for your Tummy Tuck recovery.
Dr. Yalif provides detailed post-operative instructions that, when closely followed, enhance the recovery process and help you heal faster. We encourage patients to call us with any questions or concerns that they may have.
The Real Post-Op Timeline
Tummy tuck results don’t happen overnight, but they do last. Most patients start to see meaningful changes within the first 6 to 12 weeks, once swelling has gone down and the body begins to settle into its new shape. Final results typically become visible around the six-month mark, with continued subtle improvements in contour and scar appearance after that.
With a healthy lifestyle, the results of your tummy tuck can last for many years. Dr. Yalif designs each procedure for long-term impact, not just a temporary fix, and places incisions low on the abdomen to keep scars discreet. You’ll leave with a firmer midsection, but just as important, the confidence that comes with knowing it’s yours to keep.
Here’s What Our Patients Had To Say
“Dr Y patiently listened to all my concerns in regards to what surgery I wanted for my body. He was very honest on what would and wouldn’t work for me. I chose him after visiting four surgeons. His surgical expertise and his bedside manner have been top-notch. I could not have asked for a better surgeon. I love my new tummy and boobs :). Shout out to his staff, too. Everyone there has been amazing, courteous, and professional. Thank you, Dr Y, for helping me love my body again!!!”
- Mommy Makeover Patient
“Dr. Y performed a tummy tuck in late December. Prior to surgery, he told me what to expect and what the results would be--an honest opinion, not just what I wanted to hear. At surgery time, he gave me his cell and said to call/text for any issues. Dr. Y and his staff have been responsive to every question timely. I am super satisfied with the result and will go back for any future plastic surgery needs.”
- Tummy Tuck Patient
It’s safe to get pregnant after undergoing a Tummy Tuck, but the abdominal muscles repaired during the surgery will be undone. Additionally, your skin may stretch again, although it may not be quite as much as before the Abdominoplasty.
As a plastic surgeon, I do my best to make Tummy Tuck incisions that are easy to conceal and shape a belly button that appears natural. Still, the scars are permanent, but over time, they should soften and fade, hopefully becoming unnoticeable.
A Tummy Tuck, when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon, is safe. Like all surgical procedures, there are certain risks associated with general anesthesia and other factors. Complications include excess bleeding, infection, and seroma (accumulation of fluid under the skin). Seromas aren’t common, but they do occur. An asymmetrical incision is another risk. Lastly, even though surgeons tighten muscles as much as can be reasonably accomplished, they can become lax again, as can your skin with time, weight gain, or subsequent pregnancy.
The results of a Tummy Tuck will last for years and years. However, the aging process continues, and the elasticity of skin and tissue declines over time. Additionally, significant weight fluctuation after the procedure can affect the result.
